Making bags for your out of town (OOT) guests has become a new trend in the wedding industry. It's a nice touch to thank your guests for traveling to your wedding.
One of my favorites themes for the OOT bags is to fill it with items about the town where the wedding is being held. Since these guests are traveling, they might not have been to the area before. Give them a taste of what's around.
If you go to your local Visitor's Bureau or City Hall, they should have brochures and maps that you can include in your boxes free of charge. When I called up mine, they asked how many guests I had and they set a bunch of information aside for me.
Food is always a good addition to OOT bags. After traveling for a long time, your guests might want a snack to build up their energy.
You can make personalized water bottles with your name and wedding date on there. A case of water isn't very expensive, so this wouldn't cost too much money.
Homemade cookies are also a cheap and yummy addition to add to your bags. You can even customize them like the picture above.
Also, think about what kind of foods are popular in your area. If you're in Florida, how about adding some oranges. If you're in Georgia, add some peaches. Wisconsin? How about some cheese? There are plenty of different foods that you can add to introduce people to your area.
Also, it might be a good idea to add an itinerary and map to your OOT bags. That way, if people forgot to bring their invitations with them, they'll know exactly when and where they're supposed to be some where.
Have fun! And you don't have to spend much money to make your guests feel at home.
