Outdoor weddings are so popular now and people often forget about one of the most important factors of the wedding day. The weather! The weather is so unpredictable and could put a huge damper on your wedding day. That is why a Rain Plan is such an important element to have for your wedding day.
If you have your heart set on an outdoor setting, try to find one that also has a building that you can use in case of an emergency. If your venue does not have a building, you'll need to either rent a tent (which can be quite hard to do at the last minute) or you will need to find a completely different venue (which can be even harder to do at the last minute). When looking at the building, make sure that it can accommodate enough tables and chairs for all of your guests. If it doesn't, you will need to cut your guest list to that size, just in case it does rain.
If you're holding an outdoor wedding at a location that does not have an building for you to use, I highly recommend renting a tent. Yes, this can get very expensive, but it will save you the hassle of finding one when there is projected rain on your wedding day. Plus, even if it's not raining, the tent can provide your guests shade if it's hot outside.
We were holding our ceremony outdoors and our reception indoors. We had to have a rain plan just in case it rained out our ceremony. Our rain plan was to just allow guests to sit at their tables in the reception hall and hold the ceremony in front of the fireplace. It was not the ideal situation, but it still would have allowed us to get married and keep our guests comfortable.
If you're having an outdoor wedding, do you have a rain plan?
